Now taking holiday orders for our Sea Salt Blends & Homemade Caramel Gift Sets
When did salt become so complicated? Not long ago in most American kitchens choices were limited to either Kosher or traditional table salt. Today we can identify hundreds of options from around the globe each with its own unique characteristics. To boil it all down (pun intended!) there are two key points to know when choosing salts. How is it made? All salt comes from either evaporated salt water (sea salt) or it’s mined from the earth (rock salt). Just a Pinch salts are made with flakey, pure, naturally formed sea salt crystals. Nothing is added or taken away. How is it used? Just a Pinch products are finishing salts, not usually for all purpose cooking. In general, finishing salts go on rather than in foods. As Martha Stewart explains, the very large, coarse flakes add crunchy texture and adapt to the flavor of lots of kinds of food. It doesn’t spread the saltiness across but creates little packets of flavor and texture. A nice surprise for first time tasters!

For more information, please visit the Taste NY website: https://taste.ny.gov/ After pouring a morning cup of coffee, most people reach for the sugar bowl and milk or cream. The brave go without either. However, there is another common kitchen product that can be added to your coffee: salt. Although it may seem like an unwelcome and foreign concept at first, salt is actually the perfect compliment to any coffee lover's cup of joy. Salt has the ability to cut the bitterness of coffee and "neutralize" its acidic nature. As a result, the coffee becomes smoother. But don't limit yourself to just adding salt to regular coffee--you can also add it to espresso! Be sure to add small amounts of salt into your coffee at a time and to taste it frequently. There is a sweet spot between too much and too little salt (no pun intended). For every six tablespoons of coffee grounds, a quarter teaspoon of salt is recommended. "Just A Pinch" will do the trick! We recommend our Just A Pinch Simply Sea Salt as the perfect partner for your next cup of coffee. Check out the following to find your preferred method of purchasing your own jar of Just A Pinch Sea Salt blends today, and then look for this delicious recipe for Sea Salt Cream Iced Coffee!
SEA SALT CREAM ICED COFFEEyield: 4 SERVINGS
total time: 20 MINS There are a bunch of ways to get nice, cold coffee. There are an abundance of cold brew methods and devices out there now. Many of them will produce some of the tastiest cold coffee. Our go-to is to use about double the amount of coffee grinds, and then make a pot of pour-over coffee directly onto about 1 1/2 cups of ice. However, if needed, it will work just fine to save your leftover hot coffee and let it cool off completely before icing (otherwise you'll get watered down coffee). We love to use simple syrup to sweeten our chilled drinks, and it is something easy to have on hand. Just heat and dissolve together an equal amount of sugar and water. Allow to cool and store in the fridge until ready to use. However with enough stirring (or if you add the sugar while the coffee is hot) you can always just use regular sugar for this recipe. Ingredients
Happy brewing! Iced coffee image By David Dewitt https://thecozycoffee.com ![]() Although it may seem odd to someone unaccustomed with the practice, adding salt to watermelon is a simple way to bring out more of the delicious fruit's natural flavors. Similar to the tasty pairing of salt and cucumber in baked cucumber chips, the high volume of water in watermelon is very receptive to salt. Believe it or not, adding salt to watermelon (and other fruit) helps bring out the sweetness of the flavor.
